Anyhow, what I saw in the film dismayed me quite a bit because I work with children and some of the behavioral issues I see both in regular ed. I guess my problem is just that it basically fell flat. Thus the four stars, but really, it’s closer to 4. Want to Read Currently Reading Read.
I really loved the diversity of the characters and the drawings that are really essentially part of Max’s imagination. Like where all the people are made out of wind, like you don’t know what they’re going to do next? I was enthralled and upset by how unfair and how wonderful the world can be. Where the Wild Things Are and follows the same story, filling in the details and dialogue as it goes on. This is a no Genre: And it’s not even that t Sorry, Dave In Eggers’s version, one can easily see how each of these oversized animal creatures are aspects of himself and that the one he bonds most with initially terrifies him with his temper and his justification of committing acts Max feels are evil.
Basically, you should just read it. Jul 09, Megan Baxter rated it liked it. They believe the sun will burn up because their teacher said so. Max, the main character, spend the majority of the book on an island full of beasts. The author had a dreamlike idea but just couldn’t get the execution right, and I don’t really know if that was because it was tied to the movie or not.
Publication Year see all. However, instead of Max being able to rely on the Wild Things to take care of him, the Wild Things make Max their king and it becomes his sole responsibility to try to make them happy. The original book was perfect. But he doesn’t know what else to do.

At the risk of over-analyzing. It builds on somethings that the film had to gloss over, and it leaves some of the vi I love the film. And in the Eggers version each of the wild things have their own distinct voice and personality.
The story of this book and the essence of it has infiltrated the psyche of North American children anywhere. Sep 25, Stephanie R-A rated it really liked it. It was a nice thing to read, but it didn’t do anything to me or to the story for me.
And second, I don’t much care for monsters, metaphorical figments of childhood imagination and fears or not. May 06, Kirstie rated it really liked it.
Yet, I also love that The Wild Things is its own story, influenced by the children’s book and the film, but its own story all the same. But hes basicaly on a journey to teach these beast a couple of things.
It made me angry, even though I realized what I was supposed to feel is that Max had gone through some cathartic transformation and would mend the error of his ways. The story itself is wonderful. Any book that can make me emote to monstuos degree deserves lots of stars, and maybe, some day, a second read. I missed all that by treating it as an entertaining children’s book.
